Acting
It started with a dream …
Signing up for classes at Chicago’s famed Second City training center was the scariest thing I’ve ever done. (And I’ve jumped out of an airplane.)
Up to then my only stage experience was a nonspeaking role as Shepherd #2 in my first-grade Christmas pageant. But I had this dream and was quickly hooked. I threw myself into improv, sketch comedy and screenwriting before moving on to theater, commercial and film work.
I even wrote, produced and performed in two shows featuring my sketches and short plays.
… that led to something even better
Nights and weekends were filled to the brim with auditions, rehearsals and shows.
By day I was still holding down my “regular job,” helping my business clients tackle their communication problems.
Eventually I discovered a way to bring these two worlds together, launching a whole new direction for my career. Now I perform on stages around the world, using lessons from show business to help people succeed in their business.
After performing in nearly 200 stage, commercial and film productions, I’ve officially left acting behind.
I played artists, architects and bankers. I’ve been a farmer, a pharmacist and an ink cartridge (no, really!). And while I’m not a doctor, I have played one on TV. (Ancient joke.)
It was a good run, and the smartest, funnest (sorry, spellcheck, that’s a word!), most mind-opening thing I’ve ever done.
